Friday 15th July
Dear All,
Thank you for your work this week.
It has been so hot in Argyle House this week, you may want to supplement your warming hoodie with a ‘Digital Skills Cooling Fan’, ask one of the Digital Skills, Training and Design Team to get you one ( in your choice of favourite colours) from the cupboard. Nae ‘Taps aff’ in the workplace or on Teams.
You may have seen announcements about Edinburgh’s results this year’s NSS Survey, here’s a “deeper” look on the results (there are customisable reports embedded in the article): https://wonkhe.com/blogs/national-student-survey-2025/ TLDR: We improved, but so did everyone else, so we are still bottom.
Great to see so many new blog posts from you describing the fascinating range of work we do in LTW.

The other important work we do, includes baking. I am looking forward to the 23rd and 24th of July as we host our Movie & TV Show Themed Bake Sale, dedicated to raising funds for the Organ Donation Team, NHS Blood and Transplant. We will be set-up in the staff room area on floor H, Argyle House from 11am on both days. If you love baking, bring your best movie or TV show-inspired baked goods. Please fill out this form if you’re planning on baking. As well as baking, buying and eating will also be important contributions. We are raising money for a cause close to our hearts, and you can read Kevin’s personal story here: LTW is fundraising for the Organ Donation Team, NHS Blood and Transplant Thank you to James, Delia, Kevin and Fiona for organising.
Also in our hearts are Wesley and Eileen, who are celebrating lifetimes of achievement in LTW (and before) with retirement parties I hope you will join.
Looking ahead, there will be Edinburgh interest in Sewing Bee on the telly, and a foodie festival in George Square Edinburgh Food Festival
Please join for a very interesting reading group on data sexism July Reading Group – AI and Sexism
I hope you will heed advice from Lee-ann Reflecting on Skin Cancer Awareness Month and Staying Safe this Summer and also Baz Luhrmann, to wear sunscreen BAZ LUHRMANN – SUNSCREEN LYRICS
Have a good weekend,
-Melissa
