Friday 7th February
Dear All,
Thank you for your work this week.
Please welcome Dija Pandor, joining us as the comms officer for the LOUISA project.
Also welcome back Tallulah Thompson, she is back as an intern in DLAM to help us with data analysis and accessibility.
Congratulations to the WAC team, who have been shortlisted for UCISA’s Sustainability Award this year.
Wave goodbye to one of our valued LST team members. Jamie Smith, AV/IT Service Team Supervisor, is moving on to an exciting opportunity with the Networks team in ITI. We’ll try to keep our teasing about ITI “stealing” our staff to a minimum when we see them next! All jokes aside, we wish Jamie nothing but the best in this new chapter.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our food ban collection, we have collected about the same amount of food and Stratos will deliver it today to the Edinburgh Food Project (same as last year), which won the vote with a very close margin (11-10) against Edinburgh Community Food.
Speaking of food, Delia is convening a ‘casual bake-off’ on 26th February, over lunchtime on floor H. February is apparently ‘Bake for Family Fun Month’ so please do bake with family at home or bake for the LTW family at work, (or both). More info soon.
Lots of interesting UX blogging going on about how we might use AI for our websearch blogs.ed.ac.uk and about how students don’t know where to look for feedback blogs.ed.ac.uk
Please take a moment to complete the staff engagement survey. It came to you in an email from ‘People Insight’. The more people do it, the more data we get, the more we can use that to improve. As of this morning I can see that 27% of LTW have responded to the survey, but that’s not as many as some other parts of ISG, so please do find it, have a look and add it to your list of fun things to do on a Friday. The first team in LTW to get to 100 % get a fabulous prize.
If you haven’t looked at your VS options please do take a look at that too. University of Edinburgh Voluntary Severance Scheme 2025 – Home LTW managers are able to answer any questions you have.
Apologies for the number of acronyms in this message if you are unsure, please check out this handy list Acronyms and Abbreviations – Acronyms
