Hello from Edinburgh University Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society!
Our aim is to provide students interested in Obs & Gynae with opportunities to nurture and develop their interests and skills in this exciting and diverse field of medicine through tutorials, seminar talks and research opportunities.
Every year we run a conference too; last year’s topic was “Female Health: Let’s Talk About Everyday O&G” which hosted a fantastic range of speakers and workshops and was a great success! With over 60 people in attendance, we raised over £70 for the fantastic charity Wellbeing of Women and three students were able to present their research projects.
Other previous events have included pub quizzes, tutorials on “How to birth a baby”, suturing, and OSCE revision, as well as lecture evenings from distinguished speakers. Our talks have included “FGM: Let’s talk about it”, “Maternal Mental Health” and “Cervical cancer: Can vaccination and screening eradicate it?”.
We aim to inspire and motivate students to pursue their O&G dreams, and facilitate this through providing networking opportunities, as well as raising awareness for O&G healthcare needs around the world. We also post about research opportunities and global O&G news on the EUOGS Facebook page to keep our members up to date on what we all can do to help.
We’re a really friendly group of motivated people and we’d love to meet you!
