Week 4 – Gotta Get Them Questions Down

As I said last week, my first step was to analyze the current literature in each of my possible chosen topics so that I can see what information I have to work with and where there is a gap in the literature.  I have also developed what I believe to be two of my questions (which are still in the works, but I used them to develop my search terms).  The results of the literature searches are below, alongside my conclusions from each.

Question

Why is data ethics important in the education of young minds and

how does it affect their psyche/overall development?

Results

  • lack of information regarding data ethics and the mental health of children
  • a lot of data ethics in higher education (not my main audience)
  • specific studies but not a lot of broad ones
  • global issue (results were widespread in location)

Question

How does public perception of teachers affect teacher retention and

what strategies can we use to increase teacher retention?

Results

  • a lot of literature on USA
  • a lot of COVID studies
  • not a lot of studies on strategies on the retention of teachers
  • studies on why teachers leave but not how to stop them from leaving
