the start of literature Review..šŸ¦¾

AfterĀ clearĀ theĀ topic, Ā I started looking at the literatureĀ and findĀ someĀ examples.

Review of the literature:

There is an extensive literature on how big data affects the job search process and outcomes, and the extent to which the use of big data in job search exacerbates inequality and discrimination.

CV screening:Ā Companies can use big data analytics to screen CVs and identify the most qualified candidates for a given position. This helps streamline the recruitment process and ensures that the best candidates are selected. However, if an algorithm trained on biased data is used to screen CVs, the algorithm may identify certain groups of people who are more or less suitable for a given role. As P. KimĀ (2021) pointedĀ out, female candidates may be unfairly disadvantaged in the CV screening process if the algorithm is trained on data that shows that men are more likely to succeed in a given role.

Anticipatory hiring:Ā If anticipatory hiring algorithms are trained on data that reflect systematic discrimination, they may perpetuate existing biases. M. Raub (2018) notedĀ that if the data used to train the algorithm reflects the historical underrepresentation of certain groups in a particular industry, then the algorithm may predict that individuals from these groups are less likely to succeed in that industry, even if this is not actually the case.
