Program Overview

Finally, the last project has been submitted. What a year for me.

Think back to this year. It is truly a transformation from a pure programming student to a comprehensive interdisciplinary student.

As a completely new program since last year, I still had a rather rich experience in this program.

To conclude my experience in the second semester. There is more time and more options available comparing the first semester, and we all have the final project at the end of the semester.

There are more coding course than in the first semester, and which are all super interesting. Especially the Artificial Intelligence and Storytelling. With the rise of the large language model such as ChatGPT. This course introduced us this concept and ways to use this tool correctly. We all made fun stories during the intensive days.

Representing data introduced varieties of methods to visualize data, which was never my focus,  but now I found visualization very interesting and demanding that you should not only care about how well structure the visualization is to you, but also think about from the audience view that the visualization should clear and easy.

Another interesting course is Gamifying Historical Narratives, where we learn both game side as well as the historical narrative side of game development. We all participating board games during the intensive days and eventually modified one of the board game we played as our assessment. This is truly fun.

And my final project, which is collaborate with ‘Grand Bequest’ to conduct sentiment analysis of people’s opinion about vacant building over several social media platforms. There are loads of challenges such as change of Twitter’s policy, scraping method is too complicated, etc. But I managed eventually. It is truly pressure to work as a part of the ‘Grand Bequest’, they are all very nice people and provided many supports and suggestions.

In all, the experience is invaluable. I met nice people, learned new skills. It comes to the end now, wish everyone I met in the EFI the greatest future.

Thank you!
