Insight from Feedback

I apologize for disappearing for a while due to busy coursework and assignment pressures, but my project has been making progress. In the upcoming KIPP  presentations, I will share about helpful and inspiring events that have happened during this time, which have influenced the direction of my project. When working on the assignment for the “Inclusive Society” course, my idea was to build an online mutual support community for Highly Sensitive People (HSP) to fill the data gap of this underserved market, forming a pure mutual aid community similar to a time bank.

Based on the feedback I received from my teacher, I realized that I need to provide a more detailed definition of Highly Sensitive People and explain the difference between HSP and medical diagnosis. Feedback also pointed out that 30% of the population is actually a significant percentage. This has inspired me in the following ways:

  1. I should conduct more in-depth exploration of the clinical research on the psychology of Highly Sensitive People. (In fact, many people on the internet identify themselves as HSP, but it does not necessarily mean that they truly are, as HSP is just a label with different implications.) In my paper, I may allocate a  portion of the content to discuss the physiological and psychological sensitivity traits of  HSP, as well as the distinctions between HSP and other psychological disorders.
  2. The fact that 30% of the population is not a small number makes me realize that it is important to research and pay attention to the workplace experiences of HSP individuals from a different perspective, as they are not a minority group.
