WEEK 7

In week 7 we studied an intensive course on data science where we had to select and visualize data on a selected social topic and present the results in a group presentation of what we had done over the two days of the course.
This semester we have been studying presenting data, which focuses on the visualization of data. We learnt how to visualize data using tools such as tableau and python. We also had a group work on a client’s request to analyze our data and make a final data presentation, which will help us in our job search. This course is a good link to the data analysis and presentation of data science.
Our group’s presentation focused on the analysis of socio-political perceptions. We analyzed the support for different parties in the US to understand the impact of different parties on socio-economic and educational and gender inequalities. By dividing up the work between the different group members, we roughly formed a framework for selecting specific representative data for visualization. Through our analysis we found that every representative in the US pays extra attention to the interests of a particular group. For example, Obama’s electoral success represents that the interests of people of color in the US will be more protected and more conducive to eliminating negative aspects of society such as racial discrimination. This is consistent with what I have read in the literature on inclusive society, however, this effect will fade with the removal of the leader. But it is also a testament to the importance of ensuring a diversity of leaders in power.
