WEEK 3-4 Preparing First Meeting

As my last blog said, I am still trying to find a new topic for my project. However, after searching and comparing, I still find I have a greater passion on the topic of HSPs( I am really really really interested in psychology and HSP, and hope to do something to really help them) . This week, I know who is my project supervisor and feel both excited and nervous. In order to have a successful first meeting, I seriously consider my topic and find relevant resources to prepare for it.

I concluded three concerns regarding HSP this topic: (1) a limited amount of relevant literature about HSPs and workplace discrimination, (2) the potential for a long wait for ethical approval, (3) the amount of data that can be collected. I am most worried about the second concern, because I hope I could do some online questionnaires and interviews for HSP.

Besides, I also find some other interesting areas I want to research: algorithm bias and personal information protection, or gender inequality in China. Despite my passion for quantitative research, I lack the knowledge and skills in combining statistics with these fields, or I do not know how to collect data about them. I also encountered a lack of quantitative research and statistics in some of the literature I read about algorithm bias. However, I can find some official survey data in China related to gender inequality, which may provide information about the income gap between genders.

Above all, these are my ideas about my project. Hopefully,  the meeting in next week could go smoothly and help me to narrow down my topic~( really hope I can research hsp)
