My blog W1-4

I’ve got the chance to take classes on Inclusive Society as well as Data and Design for a Post-Covid City during the last four weeks. I heard about Universal Basic Income (UBI) in Inclusive Society. Under UBI, each qualifying citizen or resident is given a certain sum of money each month. This type of government assistance aims to lessen the financial burdens that a nation’s citizens must bear so that they can concentrate on their education, develop their professional skills, or take care of personal matters while still having access to enough money to meet their basic needs. I have personally witnessed the effects of economic hardship on people and families. UBI is an exciting concept, and I hope that more nations will consider it for implementation to lessen the financial constraints their populations must bear.

I learned that a good urban planning approach must take into account all road users, including vehicles and pedestrians, in the Data and Design for a Post-Covid City. Cities must take accessibility, parking availability, and traffic flows into account when planning for vehicles. As a resident of a congested metropolis, I can see the need for greater traffic control and more easily accessible public transportation. In order to create livable, sustainable urban areas, cities must emphasise the safety and comfort of all road users, not just drivers.

The four weeks spent studying inclusive society and urban planning have been eye-opening and thought-provoking, to say the least. I appreciate the chance to study these subjects and observe how they are used in actual situations. I’m excited to put everything I’ve learned into practice to make a difference in my city and beyond.

Hi Jiayi, I’m curious if any concepts you’ve learned in these past 4 weeks has contributed directly or indirectly to your final project ideas?
