Week 4-intense week

Hi everyone! This week I finish my last intensive course! But I don’t have too much time to have a rest. I have several prpjects to fininsh. Since I came here, I was deeply touched by my teachers and classmates. I got a lot of inspirations from them! Last week I still have a lot of confusions about my final topic. It seems that I have already fell behind many classmates. They have so much detailed information about their final project.

This week I need to focus on Text Mining, Postdigital Society and final topic. I try to figure out the potential inequity behind social media platform. Thanks to my Maryam’s comment, I noticed “behavioral surplus”. I think it’s really helpful to my project.

Frustration

  • I did not do well in the time management. Especially I lack of the abilty to control my enmotions. Thus, it greatly influences my efficency of study.
  • I plan to take some extra lessons about programming and coding. Many of my claasmates have the background about data. Fortunatly, I can understant them after review.
Maybe I can start step by step till I make it!
Hope everyone will have a lovely weekend!

Sounds like it’s been a challenging week for you Gen – but it must be nice to have all the intensives complete!
There are tons of free basic courses on coding and data on Coursera and Linked in Learning. Youtube is another great free resource.
I don’t know if everyone is as far ahead on their projects as you may think – I thought I had a topic picked and the more I looked into it the more uncertain I became, so please be assured, you are not the only one!

It was so interesting listening to your project idea today Gen! Thanks for sharing, I think you’re going to uncover some amazing insights. Well done also for finishing your intensives for this semester. I’ve only had one so far, so looking forward to joining you on this in a few weeks time.

In terms of programming, Janel shared a great course that you can self-enrol on via Learn. Copying and pasting her directions here..if you go into Learn and click Course Catalogue in the top right. Filter for self-enrol first, then enter Python in the search. These are the two courses called: Introduction to Python and Python for Data Science.

Might be worth looking at in addition to Darcie’s suggestions above. Have a great weekend
