I am a writer, researcher and artist living in Lenzie. I often commute to the University of Edinburgh, where I direct an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies for Edinburgh Futures Institute (the University’s centre for interdisciplinary research and education).
Since 2011, I have co-convened Making Routes, an art-research project exploring creative mobilities. A collection of our essays is published by Triarchy Press (2021). I am interested in the ways in which collaboration and creativity take place and move through and within different field sites. My monograph Performance in the Field: Interdisciplinary practice-as-research is published by Palgrave Macmillan (2023).
My arts practice includes various modes, methods and media, but has often been as a performer and director. In 2023-24, I collaborated with the performance artist Karen Christopher to create a series of Entanglements. I have often worked with the Scottish playwright-performer, Rob Drummond, and a collection of our plays is published by Bloomsbury Methuen Drama (2021). Productions include the multi award-winning Bullet Catch, which toured internationally from 2013-2015; and The Majority, which was presented at the Royal National Theatre in 2017, and in 2019 as a new version in Seoul, South Korea.
