ABOUT
the design book
“THE DESIGN BOOK PROJECT WAS ORIGINATED BY PROFESSOR MAL JAMES IN 2010 AND DELIVERED BY BELINDA TIPPIN WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF FASHION AT EDINBURGH COLLEGE OF ART/UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH. SINCE IT’S INCEPTION, GRADUATING STUDENTS HAVE WON A SERIES OF PORTFOLIO AWARDS AT GRADUATE FASHION WEEK AND COLLECTIVELY BEEN AWARDED ‘BEST PORTFOLIO/ILLUSTRATION’ AT THE BRITISH FASHION COUNCIL’ GRADUATE PREVIEW IN 2018 AND AGAIN IN 2019. THE PROJECT CHALLENGES PERCEPTIONS OF WHAT A FASHION DESIGN PORTFOLIO IS , AND ASKS STUDENTS TO DEVELOP A RANGE OF HIGHLY PERSONAL YET FOCUSED PRESENTATION METHODS TO GIVE THEM A STRONG AND INDIVIDUAL PLATFORM TO LAUNCH THEIR CAREERS.”
.
IN 2023 THE DESIGN BOOK ENTERED INTO A NEXT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF KATIE BRAID. THIS WEBSITE DOCUMENTS OUR EVOLUTION.
