Summer courses in Japan (fee-paying) 2024

All the summer programmes are fee-paying and outside of our exchange contracts, and we won’t be able to provide any support for your application preparation nor finance (you must pay for the participation fee, accommodation, travel costs etc by yourself).

2.  2024 ICU International Summer Program in Japan (ISPJ) 2024 (leaflet)

Application is now open!

In this second year of the program, the theme will be “Forest: A Study of Japan’s unique culture, society, and environment with the focus on the Mitaka Campus Forest.” Program dates are from July 3 to July 26, 2024. It would be great if you could forward this information to students studying Japanese.Key Features:

  • Improve your Japanese skills together with students from different countries
  • Learn about Japan from different perspectives…ICU professors with various specialties such as culture, history, society, economy, psychology, art, environment etc. will be involved in the program, allowing students to learn about Japan from various angles.
  • Fieldtrips…We will visit many exciting places such as Skytree, Yokohama, museums, temples, parks etc. *subject to change, some are optional
  • Japanese Cultural Activities…You will experience Japanese traditional activities such as Zen meditation, tea ceremony etc. *subject to change, some are optional
  • Japanese College Life Experience…You will stay in an on-campus dormitory with ICU students and other participants to experience Japanese college life *There are additional conditions for the dormitory

Their Summer Program is a six-week, six-credit, intensive Japanese language and culture workshop program designed for highly motivated undergraduate students around the world. Participants can take elementary courses taught by experienced Japanese instructors to hone their Japanese language skills in a small class environment.

4. Doshisha

Doshisha Summer Session 2024 is a 4-week program takes place in Kyoto,

where the Doshisha University Imadegawa Campus is located.

This year the event will be held onsite in Kyoto, whereas it was held online until last year.

In addition to intensive Japanese language study, students will deepen their understanding of

Kyoto and Japanese culture through a variety of cultural experience programs and classes.

Doshisha volunteer students will participate in classes as study partners to support your Japanese language study.

Why don’t you study in Kyoto, the center of Japanese culture, with students from all over the world?

We are looking forward to seeing lots of students there!

5. Waseda

 

We offer this once-in-a-lifetime program for Undergraduate students worldwide from June 17 to July 26, 2024.

Whether they want to explore their academic interests or Japanese unique cultures, our face-to-face summer session provides the perfect opportunity.

Your students will also have the chance to meet new friends and experience campus life at Waseda.

Participants will choose 2 out of 16 courses in the context of Japan and Asia Pacific and can earn four credits (2 credits for each).

The classes are entirely taught in English by well-known faculty members.

In addition, and most importantly, there will be a lot of extracurricular activities such as Japanese language exercises, field trips, site visits, and cultural events!

Tuition and Fees: Plan A –Plan with an accommodation JPY650,000 (Approx. 4,500 USD)
