Dr Nina Fisher

Nina is a researcher at the University of Edinburgh where she investigates how people take turns when they speak and when they play music. She loves music and plays the fiddle and the flute.

Dr Lauren Hadley

Lauren is a researcher based in Glasgow, who tests how people interact successfully. She asks questions like ‘how do musicians time their actions together so precisely?’ and ‘how do people with hearing impairment make themselves understood in conversation?’.  She both sings and plays the piano and is a member of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus. She’s very excited to see the team’s research come to life in this exciting production!

Hildigunnur Anna Hall

Anna is a PhD student at the Department of Psychology, University of Edinburgh. The focus of her research is on links between maternal health during pregnancy and children’s developmental outcomes. She has carried out research in the Wee Science Lab and is interested in how University researchers can involve the wider public in their research.

Professor Martin Pickering

Martin is a professor at the University of Edinburgh, where he teaches students about language and communication.  He is really interested in how people talk to each other, why they are so good at holding conversations, and how they manage to understand each other in difficult circumstances.  He is also interested in working out how they can predict what other people are going to say.  He is fascinated by the similarities and differences between languages and their effects on language use and in the effects of knowing more than one language.
