Academic Writing courses for international PhD students

Beginning in the week beginning 20th April, English Language Education will be offering several writing courses specifically for international PhD students whose first language is not English.

Writing a First Year Report, for students in the first year of their PhD journey, preparing for their Progression Board. This course lasts for 7 weeks. For further information: https://www.ed.ac.uk/english-language-teaching/ele-courses/elsis/writing-phd-first-year-report

For second year students: Writing your PhD: Reviewing the Literature. This course is also open to students at the end of their first year who have passed their First Year Board, students studying for Masters by Research, and students at later stages of their PhD who have not previously taken the course. For students at later stages of their PhD, there are three potential courses:

Writing your PhD: Qualitative Research.  For PhD students working on a thesis based on qualitative research, who have completed their data collection and analysis. This course lasts for 7 weeks. Writing Your PhD: Scientific Research. For PhD students in their final year of a PhD based on scientific research. It may also be suitable for students in their second year if their thesis consists of a series of individual studies. The course lasts for 5 weeks. Writing your PhD: Quantitative Research in Social Sciences. For final year PhD students; it may also be suitable for students in their second year if their thesis consists of a series of individual studies. The course lasts for 5 weeks. The deadline for applications for all of these courses is 5pm on 15th April 2020
