Public engagement is one of the many ways that research can have positive impact beyond the four walls of the University – not to mention benefits to the researcher. Done well, it can boost your communication skills, give you fresh perspectives on your research, inspire others and maybe even lead to a practical change in how society does things. But how do you get started? And would members of the public honestly be interested in what you do?
A new workshop ‘An Introduction to Public Engagement with Research’ running on the 25th May 2017 will help answer these questions.
At the end of the workshop you will:
- Develop a deeper understanding of the social context for your research
- Make sense of the variety of stakeholders in your research
- Identify the next steps you need to take in developing your public engagement skills
