I am a SENSE CDT PhD student at the University of Edinburgh based in the School of Engineering. My PhD project title is Characterising Cyclone Damage Using Earth Observation Data. This project is primarily focused on assessing infrastructure damage in Madagascar following cyclonic events by analysing high resolution optical remote sensing data (provided by Airbus), combined with object identification algorithms to identify damage. The aim of this project is to then use observations of previous events to inform a predictive model for future cyclone damage.

Principle Supervisors: Dr Thomas Reynolds (University of Edinburgh) and Professor Alexis Comber (University of Leeds).

Industry Partner: Airbus – Dr Andrew Tewkesbury.

Supporting Academics: Dr Massimo Bollasino, Dr Yuner Huang and Dr Chris Beckett from the University of Edinburgh.

Supporting NGO: Conservation International Madagascar – Dr Luciano Andriamaro.
