Abstract: This is an overview of the work of the Programming Languages Laboratory at Huawei Central Software Institute, in particular the Edinburgh Programming Languages Laboratory. We are pleased to introduce the new programming language CJ (仓颉 // Cangjie), officially announced at the Huawei Developers Conference on Saturday. CJ is a general-purpose programming language which incorporates most state-of-the-art features one might expect from such a language. The Edinburgh Lab is focussed on effect handlers and and distributed actors, features are currently under implementation and will be part of future releases.
