Abstract:
During this presentation, Paul Jansen, CEO of TIOBE Software, will explore the evolution of programming language popularity over the past 25 years. He will highlight notable surges as well as the rise and fall of established languages.
The talk is based on data from the TIOBE Index, a long-running benchmark that tracks programming language popularity worldwide. Paul will also discuss the key factors that contribute to a language’s success and illustrate these insights with an interactive case study of Huawei’s Cangjie language.
Bio:
Paul Jansen (1967) graduated from the University of Amsterdam in computing science and philosophy (both cum laude). At Philips Research he was a computer scientist in the field of compiler construction and domain-specific languages. After a brief stay at Atos Origin and QA Systems, he founded TIOBE Software in 2000. Paul Jansen is the driving force behind the definition of the TIOBE Quality Indicator (TQI) and the famous TIOBE index that is published every month.
