Abstract:

Effect handlers are an advanced programming language feature for structured control flow, akin to the idea of resumable exceptions.
Effect handlers are generally confined to the research world, but we are attempting to bring them to the mainstream in the Cangjie Programming language.
In this talk I will present an overview of Effect Handlers in Cangjie, and outline some practical uses and applications

Bio:

Magnus graduated with a PhD from the Univeristy of Glasgow. He was a Postdoc in compiler research at the University of Edinburgh before joining Huawei in 2021.
After joining, Magnus focussed on performance improvements in the Cangjie compiler, before beginning to work on advanced feautres. Magnus is currently working on potential applications for Effect Handlers.
