Mother’s Day Collection

Mothers According to Ancient Authors

The Ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated motherhood in the spring, very much as we do now. However, the Roman and Greek celebrations were centered around goddesses of childbirth and motherhood, like Rhea and Juno rather than to their own mothers.

Check out Laura and Anna’s display on motherhood to read about mothers in the ancient world! It can be found on the lower level of the SRR by the Sellar and Goodhart Collection. Keep an eye out in the Greek and Roman authors section for more holiday related displays brought to you by Laura and Anna, and remember to wish the mothers in your life a happy Mother’s day!
