On Books: Exploring the Research Room (Again)

Honestly, I probably need a more unified or convenient name for this. Anyway, assuming that you have all been patiently awaiting my next post on the SRR Blog, I am back with a new and exciting book to review.

Early Society in Cyprus

I found this book way upstairs in the mysterious lands of the second floor. Specifically on shelf 3.14. It was just sat there… menacingly!

Anyway, this is a book of books or, more realistically, a book of essays. There are so many names in this thing that you can’t help but be impressed at just how many people contributed. People like Gordon Thomas or Kenneth Schaar who, it turns out, really really like prehistoric Cyprus.

I am a tad disappointed in the lack of pictures and the way that most of the pictures are in black and white. That said, the content? Pretty good! If Prehistoric Cyprus is your thing then this book will probably be a good time. Even if it’s not, you know exactly where to go if you do want to learn about prehistoric Cyprus.

Okay so now that I flick the page, I’ve just realised that actually this is a way bigger book than I realised. Turns out it goes way down to Greek Cyprus and that, despite my best efforts to find a book that isn’t Classics related, I’ve failed yet again. Make of that what you will.

Rating: 7/10

Thoughts: Seems pretty neat!

Until next time!
