About the researcher

Hannah Kimler

I am a PhD candidate in the Health in Social Science programme at the University of Edinburgh. I have a bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Southern Maine and a master’s in Clinical Social Work with a concentration in health and mental health from Boston College. I have both a personal and professional interest in researching bowel incontinence. Prior to beginning my PhD, I worked in acute rehabilitation hospitals in Boston, including more than two years on a spinal cord injury unit, where I became acquainted with the impact of incontinence on the emotional wellbeing of my patients.

When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking new recipes, reading, and taking my dog on adventures around Edinburgh.
