Data Mart for HR Strategic Reporting

Our data warehouse team are winding up work on the HR Strategic Reporting data mart, which we have developed in support of the University’s programme to replace our ancient HR and Finance processes and systems.

The first release of the data mart was a year ago and contained the strategic data from the old HR system.  At the time, this was little noticed, because analysts could continue to use the old data mart.

In January, the second release included a subset of the data from the University’s new “People & Money” system.  The final release, in May, added funding data, along with mappings from the old data schemas to the new ones, so that analysts could provide trend reports regardless of the underlying change in data sources.

The final release coincided with switching off the old data mart and so we started to get more feedback from the analysts.  Our post-live support work has focussed on these user-led requirements, and we are poised to reach a stable state.

We have also worked with colleagues in Service Management and HR to put processes in place to manage support calls and access requests.   The core audience for the data mart is a core group of MI analysts who are preparing reports that they will share across the University.

Members of University staff can see more information about the HR Strategic Reporting Data Mart via the Core Data Hub SharePoint site:
