About me
Before starting my MScR in the Center for Language Evolution with Prof. Kenny Smith I did a MA (Hons) in Linguistics, here at the University of Edinburgh as well (2019-2023). The courses I took focused on cultural evolution, thoeretical syntax, experimental methods for language sciences and statistics.
I also have a background in Philosophy with a focus on Philosophy of Science as I completed a Bachelors in Philosophy at the Université Paris-Nanterre from 2019 to 2022. My main philosophical interest is in the role and evolutionary function of sentience in self-organising systems’ interactions with the physical world.
Thanks to my research internship in the Psychology of Language department of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in the Spring & Summer of 2023 I have started using neuroimaging techniques in my research.
Currently my research focuses on the neurobiology of language and syntax specifically from an evolutionary perspective. But I am also interested in the cultural processes shaping the evolution of linguistic structure and the interplay between language and other cognitive domains such as action and perception. I also have recently started looking at the question of what genomic studies can tell us about the evolution of neuroanatomy with Prof. Cedric Boeckx .
If any of these or similar topics interest you, please do not hesitate to contact me !
In my free time I like to be on a wooden platform and pretend I am someone else, a funny activity called stage acting. You can also find me running around the Meadows in lovely (dreich) Edinburgh.
