It is worth noting that a new edition of Xavier Prévost’s important book on Jacques Cujas (Jacques Cujas (1522-1590) Jurisconsulte Humaniste (2015)) has been published by Droz in its series Titre Courant. The volume in its original version was awarded the Premio speciale del Consortia Interuniversitario Gérard Bouvert per lo studio della civiltà giuridica Europea per la storia dei suoi ordinamenti. The original thesis that was its foundation gained four prizes.
Over the past ten years, Prévost’s book, rich in detail and argument, has stimulated considerable further thought about Cujas, and revealed just how wide and important his thinking was. This revised edition at a modest price will help further understanding of that influence.
