Image of Professor Donald MacKenzieDonald MacKenzie’s current research focusses on high-tech economic activities such as automated, high-speed financial trading and online advertising. His most recent book is Trading at the Speed of Light: How Ultrafast Algorithms are Transforming Financial Markets (Princeton University Press, 2021). His earlier books include Inventing Accuracy: A Historical Sociology of Nuclear Missile Guidance (MIT Press, 1990). He is working, with Koray Caliskan, on a book with the working title, Inside Digital Advertising: Platform Power, Data Icebergs, and Material Politics.
