Minutes of week 8 meeting

Minutes of week 8 meeting

Wednesday 7th, November 2018

Apologies: Annapurna, Niamh and Paula

Agenda :

  • Plan our time until Christmas
  • What are the different group projects and splitting into groups
  • How will the smaller groups work with the collective group (fluidity)
  • Response to email from Lawrence about attendance

Proposal of creating an individual feedback (has to be sent before the end of year 2018)

This piece of work will reflect your experience within the group and with the course. This can be done in any format before the end of this year (end of December). This feedback will be read by members of the course at the beginning of next semester and eventually be shared to the whole group. This piece of work will be done individually and is independent of the group project (although the group project is part of the reflection and experience).

Creation of the different group projects
During the session, we used the last 30 min to talk in group and think of our timeline and the topics that interest us the most. The different groups (Bureaucratization, Community, Education and Permaculture (see the picture below)) will meet on their own to discuss and have a clear idea of what specifically they want to explore.  In week 10 (next week), a quick presentation on where the groups are at will be done and shared to the whole group. Some feedback from the whole group will be done.

The groups will think of :

  • what they topic they are exploring
  • their timeline
  • The need of any resources

For the next sessions, it has been discussed that week 9 would be a time to share the ideas and talk in groups. The idea of having a skill audit workshop was brought. Niamh and Sophia are going to bring a proposal on that. Some argued during the session that the skill sharing could be done organically during the process of discussing in group. We’ll see next session 🙂

Talking about the fluidity of the collective group, we thought that each group project would drive our collective learning. Practically, it means that the group project will share interesting readings, resources and prepare some session during the semester.

Week 11 will be a time to think of the next semester and create a calendar (Alison is apparently creating a calendar linked to Yammer) (need of any workshop/resources, what is our timeline?).

The plan for the weeks to come is written in a clearer manner on this picture 🙂

Attendance

Phil and Dante met on Thursday to answer the email about attendance (The Head of the school accepted that we don’t take attendance). They would like to meet with us because they are interested to know more about what kind of welfare support/ collective support we have created (which was the man point they raised when they explained the reason of attendance taking). The email is available as a blog post, add any comments on it before Wednesday as it would be sent at this time.
In the email, we propose to the Head of School a meeting (on week 3 next semester). It will be for us an opportunity to share with them what we are doing but also listening to what they have to say.

Thank you to all for this session!
