Minutes week 18, 6 March 2019
Minute taker: Sophia
Apologies: Caroline, Sean, Paula, Hamza
Before beginning the permaculture workshop, we discussed some admin issues.
- Next week (13 March) the graphic facilitation and recording workshop will go ahead, but as a condition of funding the workshop, the Student Development Office required that some places be open to outside students. They wanted 10 open places, and everyone agreed this was OK. There will be an Eventbrite, and people can consider sending on to friends who might be interested in coming along to see what the course is like, especially people who might take it next year.
- Re: the planned visit of Neil Lent and Sabine Rolle to the course on 20/27 March, it turns out Neil is not available for either of these dates, so we agreed to meet them outside course time to get their input on assessments for the course next year. The meeting will be Tues. 12 March, 10:15am, in 3F2 18 Buccleuch Place. All are welcome to come.
- The UG Board of Studies is considering our proposal for a Hons FOOU course in 2019-20 today immediately after the session. A group are going over for this purpose and anyone can join.
- We discussed plans for the session on 20 March, as given that the graphics workshop is next week, we may not have time to plan for that. We agreed that this session could focus on discussing the assessment of the course next year (as the Hons course requires a graded assignment), revisiting the commitments we’ve made for the course next year and considerations for the course next year. It was also proposed that there could be a reading for us to discuss in the session, but there was no decision on what that might be.
- We agreed to screen the film Schooling the World one evening in the coming weeks. Sophia will make a doodle for potential times.
The rest of the session was taken up with the Permaculture workshop, details of which will be posted separately.
