Dr Emma Davidson

Emma is a Research Fellow in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. She was funded by the Leverhulme Trust as an Early Career Fellow to conduct this research project. The project builds on Emma’s doctoral research which explored young people’s experiences of antisocial behaviour. During the research Emma spent time in public libraries, and gained an interest in their (often contested) role in youth work.

More broadly, this project builds on Emma’s interests in the sociology of everyday relationships, ‘significant others’, public space, and the social geographies of care and intimacy.

Professor Lynn Jamieson

Lynn is the project mentor and is based in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. Lynn is Professor of Families and Relationships at the University of Edinburgh. She is the President of the British Sociological Association and founding director of the interdisciplinary consortium, the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships. Lynn is co-editor of the Palgrave Macmillan series, Families and Intimate Life and Associate Editor of the Policy Press journal, Families Relationships and Societies. Her publications include Intimacy: Personal Relationships in Modern Societies

Professor Lindsay Paterson

Lindsay is the project mentor and is professor of educational policy within Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh. His main research interests are in education policy, civic engagement and political attitudes. Under the auspices of the Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMeN), he is involved in several ESRC-funded research projects that are analysing public attitudes relating to the Scottish independence referendum.
