Summer 2025: Upcoming talks @ Amazonicas, CLS (Reading), BUCLD

Summer is time for vacation/holidays and fieldwork here – I was on fieldwork through June and some of July collecting experimental data and working on my Ticuna reference grammar.

Even during the slow season, there’s still news coming out about upcoming talks from my research groups:

  • Together with Rosa Vallejos-Yopán, Naomi Shin, and a group of students from the University of New Mexico, I will be presenting a poster at Amazónicas (Belém, Brazil) titled “Joint attention matters more than space to demonstrative use in Ticuna and Secoya” in August.

  • My MSc student Sara Carter and I will be presenting a poster at the Child Language Symposium (University of Reading) titled “Evaluating the morphological complexity of ADS vs. CDS in a polysynthetic language” in September.

  • Sara and I will be presenting another poster with the same title at BUCLD in November. This work is based on Sara’s master’s thesis.

  • No conference on tap for October – I need to stay in Edinburgh and teach field methods sometime 😉
