Welcome to the KM Blog

Hello!

This is a blog about Knowledge Mobilisation (KM) in public health – specifically public health evaluations.

I am part of PHIRST Elevate, a research team based at the University of Edinburgh. Over the next 5 years, we will be evaluating 10 public health interventions run by local governments in the UK. We are funded by NIHR as part of PHIRST (Public Health Intervention Responsive Studies Teams).

Within the PHIRST Elevate, I am the Knowledge Broker. You can read more about PHIRST, PHIRST Elevate and my role as Knowledge Broker in the About section. In a nutshell, I am responsible for Knowledge Mobilisation, and I am learning a lot along the way.

This blog is intended to capture some of my thoughts, insights and learnings. It is very much guided through practice, experience and exchanges with colleagues across PHIRST. I am yet to dive deep into KM literature!

A quick note on the picture above:

This is a picture of the Forth Bridge, one of the three bridges just outside of Edinburgh which connect Edinburgh and Fife. It has become the “PHIRST Elevate” picture with the (super original) tagline that we aim to “bridge the gap between evidence and practice”. Knowledge Mobilisation has a key role to play in the process; in fact one could say that Knowledge Mobilisation is the bridge.
