Manchester Town Hall: Positively Managing Change

This masterclass is jointly offered by the Scottish Centre for Conservation Studies and the Institute for Historic Buildings Conservation – IHBC.

Manchester Town Hall is Grade I listed building of both outstanding national significance and local pride. It is currently going through a major, heritage-led project to secure it’s long-term use, conservation and enjoyment. Christina will be speaking on this exciting project – how its challenges are being approached, and the most is being made of the fantastic opportunities it presents. 

Christina Sinclair has backgrounds in architecture, planning and conservation, and specialises in how to positively manage change, and maximise the potential of historic sites through considered intervention. She is passionate about the value of heritage – how it contributes to our communities, our pride of place, our identity and our quality of life. She is also a strong advocate for the same benefits that high quality new interventions can bring, and how this can both further enrich our historic places and better engage communities. Christina currently works as a Senior Heritage Consultant at Purcell, and is also a ‘Built Environment Expert’ for the Design Council/CABE. She has worked as a Conservation Officer and occupied numerous roles within Historic England, including that of regional Planning Advisor and Inspector of Historic Buildings and Areas.
