Learning from Cosmopolis: The Venice Architecture Biennale and the Lessons of a Listing City

 

Niall Atkinson is an historian of Italian Renaissance and Medieval Architecture at the University of Chicago. He received his PhD in the History of Architecture and Urbanism from the Department of Architecture at Cornell University in 2009 and joined Chicago’s Department of Art History in 2010. His first book, The Noisy Renaissance: Sound, Architecture, and Florentine Urban Life was published by Penn State University Press in 2016. Niall is also co-curator of the U.S. Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, entitled “Dimensions of Citizenship”.
