After hosting the Gurrl Dinner event, I have a better understanding of the practical time scales required to plan and host a workshop from start to finish. This, alongside James Clegg’s Week 4 lecture on planning an exhibition within an hour, places me in a position to start organising my own project’s public-facing scheduling and relative timeline for myself after this. This will also allow me to visually see my timings later for when I am calculating my outgoing expenditure.

Beginning with my public-facing schedule, I already know that I am going to host my workshops from 4.30-6.30pm on Fridays (See post on workshop design), with additional artist talks on week 2 of month 1, week 3 of month 2, and week 4 of month 3 after the session (See post on public programming). My four venues are Hall 2 at Juniper Green Parish Hall, the Small Hall at Lauriston Halls, Walpole Hall, and the Art Room at the Salisbury Centre. Due to both being within the same neighbourhood, I am choosing that Lauriston Hall and Walpole Hall will share one artist talk, as there is a direct bus route between them and they are within a reasonably close proximity. As Walpole Hall has a greater capacity, it will be hosted there.  I know that I want the final artist talk to also function as a closing event and final sharing (See post on public programming) and so I know the last artist talk will be at Walpole Hall, again as it is the largest venue of my network.

My funding applications close at the end of April, being awarded on the 30th so, including a period of planning and advertising for the workshops, I think I can realistically have the first events from the start of June. My network will therefore run from June until the end of August. Although this crosses with Edinburgh Fringe Festival, due to the short amount of time I need each venue for I am treating this as negligible. Lauriston Halls are the only venue that mentions its Fringe use on its website anyway. From here I can determine my schedule to look like this:

Due to the nature of my design being based on week numbers as opposed to specific dates, my project can be translated to any set of three months allowing for it to have greater proposed appeal. I have included that publications will be available at the last two artist talks as per my post on Publications. The order of artist talks is random, with me believing that all of the artists have been equal inspirations for the project. Through this scheduling I hope to be consistent in my workshops, allowing for people to choose which workshops they would like to attend, providing flexibility. I understand that for some of this scheduling school holidays will be taking place, and as my audience includes families with young children, I hope they will come along. Tailored posters for each venue will be available and this entire schedule will be available on the website as well as a takeaway at each workshop to encourage people to come again.
