Personal project research theme: Protection and presentation of intangible cultural heritage
Intangible cultural heritage is a dynamic cultural phenomenon that continues to be practiced, interpreted and disputed. It is characterized by its liveness and non-materiality. Traditional operas, crafts, or folk rituals are all sustained in the interaction between people.
For example, the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum will open in 2023. A traditional stage has been built in the museum, where the audience can sit and watch classical drama performances in a traditional way. In addition, immersive particle animation was created using digital technology. The audience can walk into the virtual world to watch the legends.
My exhibition space can be designed as a “co-creation space”. Consider traditional craftsmanship as a skill that is still developing. Let the audience watch and participate, rather than passively accept some defined culture.
