WEEK4 AVANT-PRISM: COLLECTIVE MANIFESTO

Origin of the name Avant-Prism

combining the French word ‘Avant-garde’ and the English word ‘Prism’, it reinforces an international perspective and interdisciplinary integration.

About Avant-Prism

  • We focus on the interplay between culture and modernity, exploring how cultures are deconstructed, reshaped, or fade away against the backdrop of accelerating globalization and technological change.

  • Through our curatorial practice, we present how culture transforms, dissolves, or revives cultural space, and examine how digital technology, contemporary art, and social transformation influence cultural memory and identity.

  • “Avant-prism” refers to a forward-thinking, multi-perspective approach—a lens that refracts ideas.

  • We believe that our curation explores the intersections of contemporary and traditional cultures, digital and physical spaces, and individual and collective identities in order to better express our perspectives.

  • We believe in the in-between. We exist at the intersection of languages, disciplines, and experiences, and it is in this fluidity that we find our creative force.

  • We agree that cultural transformation in the age of technology and globalization is a crucial area of exploration, and a multidisciplinary approach—integrating art, technology, and academia—enriches and sustains cultural narratives.

  • We hope to use multimedia practices to transcend traditional curatorial models, introducing the prism concept—like a beam of light refracted into diverse spectrums—to explore culture’s role in globalization and technological transformation from multiple perspectives.

  • Just as a prism reveals hidden colors within light, our curatorial approach aims to uncover the layered complexities of cultural evolution, creating dynamic dialogues that reflect and reshape contemporary cultural narratives.
