Course Feedback
The lemon video of this Wednesday’s lecture impressed me very much, and I think it is a very special art form. The instructor asked us to watch the video and write down the ideas in our minds. This is what I wrote in the class:
As the light gradually dims, this lemon looks like the surface of the moon, and the changes in light are just like the phases of the moon.
It gives people a very subtle sense of tranquility like the moon.
This also reminds me of the lighting in photography, just like the front light and back light.
It went from dark to bright and then dark again, with the light circling around the lemon.
The last rays of light were like a purple mist, like dusk gradually darkening.
Meeting with CAP
This week, I also had curatorial discussions with cap students, and I was very happy to learn some of their experiences in the process of creating artworks and curating exhibitions. One girl made a tree that was continuously woven with colored wires (artwork 1). She said that the tree symbolized the patriarchal society, and the continuously woven wires represented the awakening of female consciousness, and the consciousness of the whole society was reshaped by women. In addition, two works by another boy also left a deep impression on me. The first is the flower of Evil, which is a facial recognition work made by electronic technology, and the more faces, the bigger the flower will bloom. This work has the meaning of the mob, which means that people will follow the crowd without thinking, and sometimes even hurt innocent people due to this mentality of conformity. Another of his works is to break a complete blue and white porcelain tea set found in a garbage dump, and use these pieces to fill the cracks in historical buildings, implying history and new life (artwork 2).

Collective Meeting
What’s more, this week we’ve been talking about the events we’re going to have in the next few weeks. We’re going to have art film screenings the first week, and some games to promote bonding. The second week is about making online exhibitions, while the third week is about making them by hand. I’m looking forward to the next group meeting, which I think is both fun and artistic. I’m going to play a clip of “Singin’ in the Rain”, an art film I really like, at the group meeting next week.

My Individual Project
last but not least, in order to enrich my knowledge of opera and facilitate my further revision of the exhibition, this week I went to see Le Boheme, a performance in Edinburgh, which tells the story of the suffering lives of artists and ordinary people. In fact, it was the first time I had ever seen an opera live. I had always watched videos on the Internet, so I was very excited.
