Orphan

An orphan is physically without a mother or father. But there is also the fact that unsupported children, nominally have parents, but in fact can not get the care and support of parents. I recently saw a Chinese movie called Stand By Me. The prototype of this film is Xuan Xuan, abandoned by his parents when he was a child. When he was born, his mother was 20 years old and his father was 19 years old, and they did not get a marriage certificate, and accidentally had him. When he was one and a half years old, his parents broke up and abandoned him. He became the “mistake” of the two young people’s youth. After this incident was reported, it aroused great attention. On January 1, 2020, China officially implemented a protection system for such children, with subsidies and subsidies from all aspects.
These orphans don’t get any real education. Because Xuan Xuan never went to school, he gradually revealed some problems, such as using violence to express emotions and stealing from others. So what happens when these kids grow up? Criminals, actually. There is also a criminal organization in the movie. The surface is to shelter homeless children, but in fact, is to instigate minor crime, using children’s mental immaturity to do bottomless things to accumulate money.
Although there is a system to protect these orphans, I think the security system cannot fundamentally solve the problem. From the perspective of sex education, there are still many people in society who lack sexual knowledge, especially from a psychological perspective, which is crucial to the stable development of the whole society.
This is really moving and sad. You write in this post, “lack sexual knowledge, especially from a psychological perspective”. These themes remind me of the film released in 1991, Raise the Red Lantern, set in 1920’s China. I am not sure how much I can write here but I am happy to talk with you about my time in Beijing.
Thanks for your valuable comments! To be honest, I haven’t seen this film because at that time, I wasn’t born yet. But I will see this film later! Because the director is Zhang Yimou, I think the film would be very meaningful.
