System Thinking in A Systematic Approach to Sustainability

One of the most impactful parts of the course for me was the emphasis on systems thinking. Initially, the idea felt abstract, but as we dove into case studies and real- world examples, it started to click. For instance, I began to see how land-use policies can’t be separated from water management, energy use, or even social equity, Each part of a system influences the other. This realization helped me rethink my approach to my work in land management in St. Kitts and Nevis, where sustainability isn’t just about implementing solar panels or conserving natural resources- its about understanding the ripple effects of these actions across our communities and ecosystems.
