Week2

In week 2, I decided which is the main space in my project.

It’s a viewing platform in the center of the big hall in the building,

As can be seen from the sketch plan,

the left side of the viewing platform box is workshop,

which is near the big three windows.

So when people go upstairs to the platform,

they looked down and could see people cutting fabric

and sewing clothes at well-lit work tables.

Besides, on the platform,

there is a cafe

where people can enjoy afternoon tea after shopping or remaking.

Below is a conceptual sketch with my initial idea of what the main space looks like:

It’s a no-scale sketch, which shows another perspective of the platform.

Obviously, there is a rotating clothing suspension system under the platform.

On this rotating device, sorted clothes and fabrics will be hung,

and for the initial idea,

I have arranged an elevator and dressing rooms underneath the platform.

HALFEN Cast-in channels

About how to fix the system, my tutor recommended this product to me.

With this product,

I think it’s really reliable to fix the rotating device under the platform.

Next step,

I need to draw GA drawings and think if the arrangement of each space is suitable or not.

A very informative description of your week, continue to add reflections of your working week and aims for the following week.

You’ve already started to consider the detail elements of your clothes rail design by researching relevant products. Start to do hand sketches of these details at larger scales.

Add in case studies or research you’ve been doing in the background e.g. the children’s V&A in London.
