SEM2 W1 What output do you want to have from your KIPP?
What output I want of my final project is preliminary research on my future entrepreneurial idea (a circular economy platform website that helps businesses manage inventory). At first, I would like to write a business plan. After talking with Toni last semester, she suggested I conduct preliminary research on my business idea to validate its feasibility.
“In your blog you might like to reflect on sources that you’ve enjoyed engaging with over the course of your studies – what format did they take? what was the tone? who was the audience? why did you like them?”
I enjoyed the Representing Data Course more than the study. The format is that lectures are held on odd weeks, and tutorials are held on even weeks. Dorsey explained the course structure clearly and her expression is very clear in every class. Also, this course teaches us tools that can easily be learned and useful for our future projects or works to visualize the data. I remembered deeply from one lecture, he said people don’t want data, they like to hear the story behind the data. It is also suitable for our future work, how to explain and persuade companies to implement Circular Economy. People may not want a circular economy (Some customer’s stereotype is that it’s more expensive or of poor quality), but they want to know what value CE can bring to them.
This is really interesting Yumeng – I’m thinking how you might use data to evidence your business plan? who would you be trying to convince? financial investors? What sort of data would they respond to? How? The CE Podcast from Ellen McArthur has some interesting episodes on financing the sector (https://www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org/explore?search=finance&sortBy=rel&contentType=Podcast). For me, one of the first pieces of action I would think of in my project development is – who am I trying to convince with my business plan, what data do they need to be convinced? how can I get that data?
