The Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education Department was established in 2019 to develop and expand pro bono activities and clinical legal education in Edinburgh Law School. Our efforts include our long-standing, award-winning University of Edinburgh Free Legal Advice Centre; our newly piloted Virtual Clinic; collaborative projects such as StrEEt Aware with JustRight Scotland, Streetwork, and Shelter Scotland; partnerships including with Indigo Volunteers; the University of Edinburgh Pro Bono Society; among many more. Through this blog, we will share news of our initiatives and research in order to raise awareness of our efforts and to share knowledge, best-practice, and experience. We hope that you enjoy learning of our work and are inspired to get involved with our efforts providing pro bono legal and multi-disciplinary services to the local and international community while simultaneously transforming the next generation of legal professionals.By Gabriella Barnes, Diploma in Professional Legal Practice Student (Edited by Aideen Byrne, Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education Coordinator) The Free Legal Advice Centre, typically abbreviated to FLAC, is the longstanding clinic for Diploma in Professional Legal Practice students.
