Isle Martin is situated in the Summer Isles on the west coast of Scotland. Recent archaeological excavations for the Isle of Martin Trust have uncovered links between the herring industry of the 18th century on the Island, and the feeding of enslaved people in the Caribbean.

Further information on the links between the Island and the Transatlantic Slave trade can be found by listening to archaeologist Cathy Dagg in the March 2021 Managing Imperial Legacies webinar: Herring, Linen and Scotland’s Built Heritage.
