Knowledge Exchange and Impact

Katriona holds several leadership positions within the hydrogen economy:

  • Sub-task lead (H2 Conversion & Contamination) and sub-task co-lead (Storage Integrity) on the International Energy Agency Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA-TCP) underground hydrogen storage task (2021 onwards). The experts in these collaborations work to advance the research, development, and commercialisation of energy technologies within the IEA Shared Goals of energy security, environmental protection and economic growth, as well as engagement worldwide
  • Invited member of the UK Government Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) Hydrogen Advisory Council Transportation and Storage Infrastructure Working Group.
  • Invited member of the Scottish Enterprise SHINE (Scottish Hydrogen Innovation Network) program, driving business development within the hydrogen economy in Scotland
  • Steering Committee member for the Society of Petroleum Engineers forum on the emerging hydrogen market (2021 onwards).
  • UK Research and Innovation expert peer reviewer and assessment panel leadership
  • Invited member of the Gas Goes Green Academic Challenge Forum (2020 onwards), a collaboration between all 5 of Britain’s gas network companies to develop the first zero carbon gas grid by speeding up the switch from natural gas to hydrogen for the 85% of UK households connected to the gas grid
  • Invited appointment onto the advisory board of HydrogenOne Capital Ltd (2020 onwards). The first London-listed investment fund dedicated to clean hydrogen.
  • Featured in the Hydrogen Economist 2023 Women in Hydrogen 50.
