ifile retirement.

The ifile service has had a good run, but it’s based on old software that uses an unsupported framework. Analysis shows that it’s rarely used, so to free up resources we’ve decided to retire it. We’ve contacted the users that use the service the most to warn of the impending closure.

We plan to shut it down at the end of June (Friday the 30th 2023).

For the few that do still use ifile, you may find these alternative methods for accessing AFS useful:

  • AFS clients – Access AFS from your own device.
  • MobaXterm – “Enhanced terminal for Windows with X11 server, tabbed SSH client, and network tools”.
  • Remote Desktop Service – a graphical login to DICE Linux.

If you need any help, please contact us via our support form.
