Day 4: Home Alone

Home Alone is a classic holiday watch for many people, especially Millenials, who grew up with the first and second movies. It is a family comedy about 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, who is accidentally left behind when his family travels for Christmas. What starts as every little kid’s dream quickly becomes a nightmare when he discovers 2 thieves are planning to rob his house. The imaginative traps and excellent slap-stick comedy from ‘The Wet Bandits’ make this a laugh-a-minute movie to watch with the whole family.
Today’s tradition: Yule Lads, Iceland

One of the most beloved traditions in Iceland is the Yule Lads, 13 mischievous figures from Icelandic folklore who visit children during the 13 nights leading up to Christmas. Each Lad has a distinct personality and habit, such as Spoon Licker and Door Slammer. Children leave their shoes by the window, hoping to receive gifts from the Yule Lads or, if they’ve been naughty, a raw potato.
