Welcome to the Edinburgh Open Research Initiative’s blog! We are a grassroots initiative of staff and students at the University of Edinburgh, passionate about advocating for Open Research in all its many forms. This includes Open Access, FAIR and CARE data principles, participatory research, and all other facets of UNESCO’s Open Research model. We host regular online and in-person events throughout the academic year.

Check back here regularly for thought-provoking posts and coverage of our Honest Research Conversations and ReproducibiliTea events.

Our aims

  • Build and maintain an inclusive community allowing students and staff, areas of the University and beyond, to share experiences, opportunities and questions related to open research and reproducibility, and encourage collaboration and connection between individuals.
  • Work closely with the library team to share, develop, and promote events and activities related to open research and reproducibility.
  • Regularly connect with student and staff groups, and departments across the university, to promote open research practices and EORI activities, advocate for and increase the visibility of open research, raise awareness of new initiatives for research openness and integrity, and to grow community numbers and support for EORI.
  • Identify areas for research improvement within the University, where relevant to open and reproducible research, and advocate for their adoption within the University.
