Professors McAra and McVie win Prestigious ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize

• At a formal ceremony at the Royal Society in London on 9th July 2019, the Edinburgh Study Co-Directors – Professor Lesley McAra CBE and Professor Susan McVie OBE FRSE – were announced as this year’s winners of the ESRC Prize for Outstanding Public Policy Impact.

• The Professors were awarded the prize for their work on the Edinburgh Study of Youth Transitions and Crime. The study, which is recognised worldwide, has followed the lives of around 4,300 young people over two decades, in order to see how they have changed in terms of their development, behaviour and contact with formal organisations. The prize was awarded in recognition of their impact in raising the age of criminal responsibility in Scotland from 8 to 12.
